Bratislava

Thursday, April 4th

Today, we opted for the home visit tour which was in a village outside the city center. Our hostess was a 73 year old widow who told us stories about what life is like for her. She lives on a pension of 400 Euros a month. Several members of her family live with her and she helps support them. She makes her own wine, butchers her meat, grows her own vegetables. I'm sure as a hostess for these home visits she is able to supplement her income quite well!!!!

The Easter Monday tradition...men wake up their wives, girlfriends and misc. women...throw cold water on them and then "beat" them with this "whip"....young girls are very upset if no one comes to "whip" them!!!

Charlie found another cat....

Going thru the Gabchikovo Necular Power Plant and Lock. Highest lock between Amsterdam and Budapest.

My home away from home "office"....please notice the wine!!!

Captain's Farewell Toast (for people leaving in Budapest). Hotel Manager- Oliver Utz, Captain- Gyula Horvath and Program Director- George Siderov.

Scenes cruising down the Danube...beautiful!!!!
